Actually this pic was taken in Golden.
In my last post I was stuck on the train in Reno. Amtrak was trying to find buses that would get us to Salt Lake City where we could board a replacement train to continue. They were very good at giving us hourly updates, even it the update was no news. About 11 p.m. they gave up on the bus idea and decided to return to the originating station outside of San Francisco so they could make the next day’s departure. Many of us left the train. I ran into several people while attempting to stay awake in the Reno airport. My flight boarded before 6 a.m., so I didn’t bother with a motel room. I finally made it to Denver…over 30 hours of travel with only a few catnaps.
And then, I pick up my rental car (no issues) and head to Walmart to pick up my grocery order for my VRBO stay. In the parking lot of Walmart I discovered the VRBO host never sent me instructions on how to gain entry. I must say the customer service at VRBO was great. Mohammed instantly refunded my rental fee. I was able to book a different accommodation. By the next morning I was refunded the difference between my original fee and what I had to pay for the new place. Amtrak has also notified me that I will get some unknown amount of refund for the service interruption.
Sunday was the Pirates vs. Rockies. I got a free Hawaiian shirt for Father’s Day. I enjoyed the game. Monday was the Anthropology department “museum” at Denver U. It was 1 room; not what I expected. However, the Museum of Western Art was incredible. Not allowed to photograph the art, but imagine my surprise when I came across this painting by William Keith painted in 1881. This is Mt. Hood, which I could easily see from my neighborhood in the Portland area. This is a screenshot I took from the website.

My favorite painting (another screenshot) was by Kim Wiggins, 1997.

The museum is housed in a building built in 1880. Four years after Colorado achieved statehood.

Today I went to Golden, the Dinosaur Ridge, and Evergreen. Beautiful scenery, though I couldn’t take pics as I was driving. That is a real fossilized femur, not a reproduction. And below are tracks.
