I am chuffed (I’m from Yorkshire now) to announce my soon-to-be new home in Saltaire. Saltaire is a model village built during the Victorian Era by Sir Titus Salt to house his factory workers because he didn’t like the slums they had been living in. He built an entire village including schools, hospital, shops, etc. along with new factories. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many videos on YouTube and article in Wikipedia.
My new home was bought recently by a man who intended to flip it, but then changed his mind. He plans to gift it to his young daughter when she grows up. It has been completely renovated. I will have Victorian Era charm with brand new appliances, carpet, lighting, insulation, bathroom, paint, etc. And, I can have a pet! Well, once I furnish the place. The picture above is the front door.
It is about a block to the train station. Note that trains here are QUIET. Within walking distance are bakery, butcher, green grocer, co-op grocery, doctor, pharmacy, nail and hair salons, retail shops, wine shop, restaurants. The next bigger town is 5 minutes away on the train.
