Planes- thinking about TSA. My known traveler number (KTN) had expired shortly after the pandemic. I decided the first week of my summer travels that I should renew it. So I did. Easy peasy – took like an hour and some 💵 to be approved. Only to discover that the TSA ✅ showed up on boarding passes haphazardly. What a waste.
Ships and trucks – I am super excited to announce that my stuff I moved from Portland will be delivered this week on Friday. I hope they use a small truck for these naExcited about kitchen stuff and a change of clothes! If you haven’t read my previous post about my struggle with the movers, it’s here https://adventure-activist.com/2026/07/02/scam-alert/
It turns out that after I reported the scumbag movers to every agency I could, the NYDOT contacted me for their investigation. Turns out the company was most likely connected to Russian money laundering operation. What do you want to bet it ends up tied to that famous family from NY? I hope the investigator remains safe.
I tracked that ship down to the Panama Canal, through the gulf, over the Atlantic and into Southampton. Fortunately, the ship was already in the North Atlantic when Isaias was headed through the gulf of MEXICO.
Trains and cars- I find that I do not miss driving at all. On long scenic train trips I can take as many pics as I want. There is always someone to talk to onboard as well. I do miss my Forester, though, because it was a great car.
Bus-haven’t tried yet. Probably once it warms up in the spring. The train station is closer and has a covered waiting area. Most bus lines are free for seniors. I did purchase the senior rail pass for a 30% discount on non-peak travel.
